After my family and I moved to East Lansing in 2016, I found I was delighted by the dynamics of the area. Education, culture, government, commercial, and industrial interests are constantly in flux in the Lansing metropolitan area, or "Mid-Michigan". Tangibly: Michigan State University, two medical schools, one veterinary school, two nursing schools, two law schools, the Michigan State Capitol, the state supreme court, the court of appeals, and a federal court are just some of the notable economic and political movers in the area. I feel privileged to help the folks living in or moving to the Lansing metropolitan area buy, sell, or invest in real estate.
My interest in real estate developed early. When I was growing up in northern California, my grandparents visited us often and for months at a time. The visits were wonderful, full of games and sourdough pancakes on the weekends. Then they would take their airstream and disappear. When I asked my parents where they went, sometimes the answer would be visiting my cousins in Ashland, OR, other times they were in San Diego, CA to see my aunt Suzy, and yet other times their location would be more exotic like Hawaii, Italy, or France.
As I grew up, it became clear that my grandparents freedom was due to real estate. They not only built a business, (Cave Springs-a beautiful boutique motel in the mountains for northern CA), but invested in both commercial and residential long-term rental properties. Their portfolio wasnt large, but their investments were enough to passively fund an early retirement with enough left over for a fair bit of adventure.
Throughout my entire life, Ive been immersed in property management and real estate investment. Although I also learned from my grandparents adventurous spirit, spending my late teens and early 20s as a self-styled international hobo traveling to and living in Brazil, Zimbabwe, Australia, Mexico, India, and Hawaii, real estate has always been the context of my work. Sometimes it meant working in home construction, other times it was working in property management, and other times it was flipping my own properties. After getting married, I spent 5 years in the Sacramento, CA commercial real estate industry working in property management and maintenance. As my wife pursued doctoral education, I spent another 5 years incorporating residential real estate into my commercial real estate experience in State College, PA. Since settling down in East Lansing, MI in 2016, I have been working as a residential real estate agent with a special emphasis on assisting investors with securing residential income properties.
No matter where in the world I have lived and worked, I have always marveled at how people's lives are shaped by the space they live in, how people interact and grow with those communities they chose to be apart of, and how the businesses that emerge can enhance those communities. The lessons I have learned both economically and socially from my grandparents and my travels have fueled my passion for finding and creating great living and working spaces for families and communities. I love to work with people to help them improve their lives both economically and socially through real estate. I would love to help you too. Call me.
