Early Life and Education - Born and raised in the charming coastal town of Beaufort, South Carolina, Craig developed a strong work ethic at an early age by assisting in his father's landscaping business, where he learned firsthand the importance of curb appeal and attention to detail. He pursued higher education at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. There he acquired foundational skills in organizational leadership, effective management techniques, and strategic planning, subsequently becoming an active member of the Lexington Citadel Club to remain connected with fellow alumni.
Dynamic Professional Journey - Craig's career trajectory reflects versatility, adaptability, and a keen insight into business operations and client relations. Upon graduation, he gained invaluable experience managing a bustling seafood distribution and processing company, sharpening his operational acumen and financial management skills. Transitioning into financial services, Craig served as a Financial Consultant at Merrill Lynch and later BB&T from 1998 to 2001. This period deepened his understanding of financial planning, investment strategies, and complex financial instruments, providing him with a comprehensive perspective on client financial needs.
In January 2002, Craig transitioned into Real Estate when his mother-in-law, Retta Whitehead - already a seasoned and respected Realtor - invited him to join her successful Real Estate practice serving the Greater Columbia and Lexington markets. Together, Craig and Retta pioneered "The Lake Murray Team," one of Columbia's first professional Real Estate teams, setting new standards in client service and sales performance.
After six productive years with a national brokerage firm, Craig and Retta recognized an opportunity to elevate their vision further by establishing their own brokerage. In April 2008, EXIT Real Estate Consultants opened its doors in Lexington, SC, rapidly becoming a respected and trusted brokerage renowned for client-centric services, cutting-edge technology integration, and a culture that nurtures agent growth and excellence.
