As a youngster growing up in Miami, Florida, Scott wanted to be an astronaut and engineer after watching Star Trek and seeing the first person land on the moon. Scott loved to read everything concerning science, robotics, astronomy and how the universe worked. He also learned how to play piano and gave his first public recital at the age of 12. Encouraged by his teachers, he went on to study as a concert pianist at the University of Miami under Rosalina Sackstein, which oddly, is where real estate came into his life.
Ok, maybe telling this tale in the 3rd person is not up my alley. So I’ll just get to the real story…
I fell in love with real estate because of the numbers. Just as in music, which is also about number combinations, I became fascinated with how you could buy and sell real estate in an infinite number of ways. It was very creative. I began reading every book about real estate, finance, architecture, construction and investing. Our whole family became involved and licensed in real estate. I sold 1 million in my second year of being licensed and started a military relocation company with my mom as my partner. I was 26… and still single.
I still wanted to complete my music academics, so I turned over the relocation company to my mom and I struck out for California.
While expanding my music education in San Diego, I taught myself about real estate tax sales and foreclosures. My brother (a Navy Veteran) and I began buying properties and rehabbing them to flip for a profit. It was fun weekend work, it got me outdoors and we learned a lot about investing and how to make a great product for people to buy from us.
A few years later, I relocated to Boston Massachusetts to complete my music studies at Berklee College of Music in film music and synthesis technology. I began work in Hamamatsu Japan after graduation and then moved on to Los Angeles California to become a music and sound designer for film. While in Los Angeles, my brother and I picked up where we left off and continued to buy and sell properties in the Southern California area.
After 911, the film industry changed drastically over the next 3 years. Clients began taking their work out of the country because now, the same work could be done cheaper in other countries like Bulgaria and Prague. That same year, my mother also developed cancer and I had to make some choices. So I moved to Las Vegas to continue working in the entertainment industry and be more accessible to assist my brother with my mom’s recovery. I didn’t think I was going to like it in Las Vegas, but 18 years later, it is my home.
Las Vegas is unique and diverse. Always evolving and re-creating itself with a very entrepreneurial kind of mindset. We have no income tax, comparable low housing taxes and a favorable environment encouraging families and new businesses to set up shop and flourish here. As a real estate consultant, I have also evolved over the years. Ok, life added a few more wrinkles, but I still have all my hair. And yes, it’s natural.
Besides all that, my accumulated experiences, wisdom and connections, have provided me a unique set of skills and perspective when it comes to selling and buying real estate. I won’t lie, buying a home can be a difficult and scary adventure for some. Negotiating all the options, making difficult choices and the myriad of paperwork and time involved can be a lot. To my credit, my clients always tell me how I made the process so smooth and seamless for them. That’s what I love to hear and it’s what I strive for in each transaction.
If you’re ready now, or just thinking about the possibility of a real estate purchase or sale, please reach out to me and let’s start a conversation of how I can help you make it so. Thank you for hanging out and reading my tome. I look forward to hearing from you.
P.S. Live long and prosper
