About Vanessa
Aren't you that Land Lady???
Some recognize me by my white hair, casual attire, and habit of parking my SUV beside the road and disappearing into the woods carrying surveying tape. Meeting new people I often hear "your name's on my plat!" "You sold my sister her lake lot." "You helped my brother get a conventional septic permit and saved him a PILE of money." "I'm so glad you saved the trees in that new development." Indeed my name is on many plats, septic permits, and large-lot subdivision plans in Richland, Lexington and Newberry counties. I LOVE selling land, understand it's totally different from selling houses, and constantly hone the skills required to protect and serve my clients.
But I also hear this: "that flip house REALLY turned out nice! I love your design." "Mom couldn't believe how helpful you were selling our family home and getting her into a one-story she could manage." "I am SO glad you talked me out of that money pit I was in love with!" Licensed in 1996, many millions in sales later, I can do it all.
How did I get here???
Seemingly random life experiences converged to usher me into a lasting real estate career. Born and raised in the Midlands, attending Irmo schools, I enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Murray and the Saluda, sports, riding horses, and hiking. On the other hand I loved drawing, singing, attending church youth activities, and trying new recipes with my mother. I even learned to sew! But "oddly" (as expressed by my lovely mom) I particularly enjoyed shadowing my dad and business pals as they transformed acreage into large-lot communities known to this day for stewardship of trees, wildlife and water. My higher education began in Art but ended in Accounting, go figure! My first career was 17 years in banking - financial analysis, compliance and Project Management - followed by a brief consulting stint streamlining processes for dysfunctional offices, then a longer stretch as café owner and caterer wherein my customer service skills were certainly put to the test! I did well, but always felt like something more fulfilling was in store for me - then came REAL ESTATE.
Real Estate is a great fit for me and my clients are the beneficiaries!
In real estate, my traits, interests and activities, education and professional paths are ALL put to good use! Creativity, common sense and logical thinking share equal billing. I work hard, think outside the box, and close deals.
Whether dealing with buyers or sellers in traditional residential transactions, with investors, or with builders looking for lots, I firmly believe a laser focus on meeting client objectives is paramount; objectives are unique to and must be defined by each client. I interact equally at ease with clerks or CEOs. Less experienced clients appreciate how I break down complexities into manageable steps. As to investors, I am not afraid of calculated risks, but am also well-grounded in reality and know when to walk away. I do LOVE a challenge! I have rehabbed homes considered "tear-downs", obtained development approvals when others failed, cleared up title issues and sold properties deemed unsaleable. Bring it on!
I'm proud to be associated with EXIT Palmetto Real Estate Services. Backed by a widely known international brand, but independently owned and managed by "locals", you'll get the best of both worlds. EXIT Palmetto has all the latest in technology, communications and market presence, but best of all, believes people come first!
If you believe experience matters, contact me with your next real estate need. You won't be disappointed.
