John Maloney

My name is John Maloney and for the past 14 years, my wife and I have been raising our son and living on the North Shore of Long Island.  We are both originally from the Northport area and moved East to Sound Beach when we wanted to become homeowners. We bought and sold our first home with the help of agents, and when I guided us through the purchase of our second home in Rocky Point, I was beginning to become attracted to Real Estate as a career. 

 
I enjoy taking a leadership role in the activities I participate in. I volunteer as an Assistant Scoutmaster for my son's Boy Scout Troop and when he was swimming competitively, I became certified as an Official Stroke and Turn Judge to be on deck during the meets.  If there is a position that needs to be filled, I am not afraid to step up.  Recently one of my Churchs council members was not able to complete their three-year term and now I am a Chairperson for the first time in my life, helping oversee the entire Youth Ministry.

 

After a rewarding fifteen-year career as a service technician, I knew that listening to people and helping them navigate through difficult situations, is a calling for me and I wanted to continue my service to the good people of Suffolk County that I have come to know and love. During my time as a tech, I visited over 22,000 homes and met the various interesting people who lived in them, so if it can be in a house, I have seen it.  Real Estate seemed a natural fit for me as I became very familiar with the many neighborhoods and types of houses we live in here on Long Island.

 
There is a wonderful feeling that comes with getting the keys to the house of your dreams and I love helping people achieve that. I also know that selling your house at the best possible price brings financial benefits that can be life changing. It makes me extremely happy to be able to help someone make their dreams come through.  Real Estate transactions can be complicated-- with many moving parts-- but one of my talents is making the complex understandable. I truly enjoy helping our seniors whenever I have the privilege.  They have my utmost respect and admiration and I love being around them and absorbing the wisdom that only comes with perspective.  With my Seniors Real Estate Specialist® designation, I help simplify what can be a complicated process for seniors.

 
When I'm not working you are most likely to find me outside.  I enjoy staying in shape and I have been passionate about running for the past 5 years.  I started by competing in my hometown 5K and now I am testing my limits at ultra-endurance running and my current farthest trail run is 41 miles.  My dog Rocky and I run around our neighborhood almost every day. I love gardening and cooking of all kinds but especially BBQ.  My family and I enjoy a good day at the beach during the summer and a little skiing in the winter.

John at JM Real Estate did a wonderful job for us. He went above and beyond to help us prepare our house to sell. He was very attentive to our needs and found answers to all our questions as they came up. John had a lot of knowledge of what we needed to do (and what wasn't worth doing) to get our house ready. He managed very smoothly the large number of people waiting to tour the house. I understand he also handled very professionally the dealing and negotiations with the potential buyers
 
and helped us make the best decision on the multiple offers that he received. I only wish I had another house to sell on Long Island so I could work with John again!
